What happens during PRP injections?

Prior to PRP injections, your provider first draws about 10 milliliters of your blood from a vein in your arm. The team spins the blood sample in a centrifuge to separate healing platelets from the rest of your blood, which takes about 10 minutes. 

Your provider numbs the treatment area prior to injection to make the procedure comfortable. Then, using ultrasound guidance, they inject PRP into strategic areas of your body. There is no downtime, so you can go home on the same day as the procedure. 

What should I expect after treatment?

After PRP injections, you might experience redness or swelling at the treatment site. You can apply ice to the area if you like. Over time, you should notice faster healing, less pain, and better musculoskeletal function.
